Deck repair in Tampa Bay
Fix soft boards, rotted framing, loose railings and failing stairs when the rest of the deck is still sound.
Not every tired deck needs to be torn out. If the footings and framing are sound, fixing the parts that failed can buy you years for a fraction of the cost of a new deck.
Deck repairs we do
- Board replacement: Swapping cracked, cupped or soft boards, wood or composite.
- Joist and beam repair: Sistering or replacing soft joists, adding blocking, fixing sag.
- Post and footing repair: Replacing rotted posts and pouring new footings under posts sitting on blocks.
- Ledger repair: Re-attaching and re-flashing where the deck meets the house. This is the most common structural failure we find.
- Railing repair: Tightening or replacing loose posts and rails so they meet code.
- Stair repair: New stringers, treads and handrails.
Repair or replace?
We'll tell you straight. If the frame is rotted in more than a few spots or the posts sit on blocks, repairing around it usually costs more over time than replacing it. If the structure is good, we'll fix what's broken and leave the rest alone. When it's time to replace, see deck replacement.
Safety first
A railing that gives way or a ledger that pulls off the house can injure someone. If your deck sways, bounces hard or has a railing that moves when you lean on it, stay off it and call us.
Common questions
Can you replace just a few deck boards?
Yes. We can match most pine boards, and many composite colors are still available. If an old composite color has been discontinued, we'll suggest the closest match or a border in a contrasting color.
Is a bouncy deck dangerous?
It can be. Bounce usually means undersized or damaged joists or missing blocking. We'll check the framing and fix it before it gets worse.
